Karagöz and Hacivat is a shadow play based on imitation and dialogue, performed with two-dimensional figures on a screen. The puppeteer is called a "hayali." The movements of the head signal changes in the speech. Whether these characters truly existed or where they lived is uncertain, as much of the story is based on legend.
