Damlataş Cave was discovered in 1948 during the opening of a quarry for stones to be used in the construction of the harbor. The cave is located on the western coast of Alanya's historical peninsula. The stalactites and stalagmites in the cave, formed within crystallized limestone, took 15,000 years to develop. The cave is named "Damlataş" (Dripping Stone) due to the water droplets continuously dripping from the stalactites. A favorite among both local and international tourists, Damlataş Cave is renowned not only for its mesmerizing beauty but also for its air, which is said to be beneficial for asthma sufferers. The air in the cave remains constant year-round: 22°C temperature, 95% humidity, and 760 mm fixed pressure. The cave's atmosphere contains 71% nitrogen, 20.5% oxygen, 0.25% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of radioactivity and ions. There is an entrance fee to the cave. Nearby, there is a small market, and the cave is located right in front of a beach.
