SAND LILY (Pancratium maritimum)

The sand lily, a member of the Amaryllidaceae family, is a perennial bulbous plant found particularly in Mediterranean sand dunes. It is endemic to the Mediterranean region. In Turkey, harming this plant is subject to legal penalties. Sand lilies are typically found a few meters from the sea, with spear-like leaves growing up to 40 cm, which do not shed in winter. The blooming season is between August and October.
